a little chat about autism

Yes we are still doing Halloween 365,,,I am up to my ears in skulls for a make and take I am doing for Great Lakes Fright Fest. aka...GLFF..

My family has been affected by Autism probably more than has been officially diagnosed. Aspergers actually..Or High Functioning Autism. Some may say that We are lucky and I suppose that we are my Child has always been verbal, however any deviation from ones perception of WHAT AUTISM IS ... well can make diagnoses more difficult. Often resulting in the treatment being delayed till their older. and sometimes less successful. Its a mixed bag I am sure.

April is Autism awareness month. this was our second year of lighting it up blue for autism.Be aware. Autism is all around us. 1 out of every 54 boys. the boy down the street that is hyper may very well have more complex neurological problems and be over or under stimulated.

I dig my kid. He just turned 15 last week. And sure he is odd..a little dark and at 215 and 6 feet intimidating. But he is funny at times and generally a joy to be around. Intelligence through the roof. never a dull moment. never a dull moment. I embrace his individuality while trying o get him to appreciate mainstream as well.

Its never ending...wouldn't change it if I could
